Jakarta, Aug. 24 -- Directorate General of Prisons of the Ministry of Immigration and Correction Affairs confirmed that more than 1.000 high-risk inmates have been transported to maximum-security prisons in the Nusa Kambangan Island, Central Java.
According to Director General Mashudi, the authority decided to relocate the 1,300 high-risk inmates so they could receive more appropriate treatment in the new facilities.
"This is not only our effort to eradicate drugs and mobile phones in prisons, but also our way to provide proper treatment for inmates," Mashudi stated in a written remark on Sunday.
