Jakarta, Sept. 22 -- Indonesia's Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said the government could consider establishing a State Revenue Agency (BPN) if efforts to optimize revenue from taxes and customs duties fail to meet targets.

He emphasized on Monday that the current revenue strategy will continue to be tested.

He said that the government will keep assessing potential increases and evaluating the results before deciding on further steps. Intervention through the creation of BPN is not yet necessary, he added.

He also signaled possible changes in the positions of officials previously projected to oversee BPN. Although he did not mention names, reports indicate that Deputy Finance Minister Anggito Abimanyu may soon be reassigned.
