Jakarta, Feb. 21 -- The Indonesian Quarantine Agency (Barantin) inspected 2,449 heads of cattle imported from Australia at Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta.

Sriyanto, Barantin's deputy for animal quarantine, said in a statement released on Friday that Jakarta Quarantine examined 184 breeding cattle and 2,265 feeder cattle through physical and document inspections aboard the ship before the animals were transferred to the Animal Quarantine Installation.

He said that Barantin ensured the imported cattle were healthy and free from quarantine animal pests and diseases, including foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) and lumpy skin disease (LSD).
