Jakarta, Aug. 21 -- Indonesia has the potential to generate up to US$200 million per year through a spaceport project, according to Adi Rahman Adiwoso, CEO of the Indonesian Space Association (Ariksa).
Speaking at a panel discussion titled "Space: Urgency and Relevance for Indonesia" on Thursday, Adiwoso referred to a 2025 Deloitte study that estimated space-related activities could contribute up to US$100 billion to ASEAN's Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Indonesia, he said, is projected to play the leading role in realizing this economic potential.
"According to the study, the spaceport alone could generate up to US$200 million in annual revenue," Adiwoso noted.
