Jakarta, Aug. 20 -- Indonesia is committed to strengthening its national aviation sector by developing the domestic air transport industry, with a particular focus on the growing potential of helicopters, a minister said.
"We will continue to push this forward. We still need to grow our fixed-wing fleet, and ensure our aircraft are newer and more modern," Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono said on Wednesday.
Speaking at the 2025 Heli Expo Asia (HEXIA) in Tangerang, Banten, he emphasized the strategic role of helicopters in Indonesia's archipelagic geography, where many remote areas remain inaccessible by land or conventional aircraft.
