Jakarta, Dec. 1 -- Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman has announced that the government has prepared 34,000 tons of rice and 6.8 million liters of cooking oil to support flood victims in Sumatra.
Prepared aid includes 34,000 tons of rice and 6.8 million liters of cooking oil across the three provinces affected by flood and landslides: Aceh (10,614 tons rice, 1,954 tons oil), North Sumatra (16,894 tons rice, 3,108 tons oil), and West Sumatra (6,795 tons rice, 1,250 tons oil).
"In an emergency situation like this, there can be no delays," the minister said while leading an emergency meeting on speeding up food aid distribution for disaster response in Sumatra, here on Monday.
