Jakarta, June 17 -- The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has completed its investigation into illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing activities involving six foreign vessels operating in Indonesian waters.
By law, the ministry is authorized to arrest foreign fishing vessels caught operating illegally in the country's maritime territory and conduct preliminary investigations prior to trial, a top official of KKP said here Monday.
Director General of Marine and Fisheries Resources Surveillance, Pung Nugroho Saksono, stated that the investigation covered two Vietnamese vessels and four Philippine ships.
