Jakarta, June 2 -- The Indonesian government has canceled its plan to offer a 50-percent electricity discount for two months and will instead redirect the funds to the Wage Subsidy Assistance (BSU) program.

Speaking at the Presidential Office in Jakarta on Monday, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said the decision was made after a review revealed that the budget allocation process would not align with the intended implementation timeline.

"We found that finalizing the electricity discount budget would take too long. Therefore, implementing the rebate in June and July is no longer feasible," she told reporters after a limited cabinet meeting with President Prabowo Subianto.
