Jakarta, June 11 -- President Prabowo Subianto expressed optimism that Indonesia could eliminate poverty well before 2045, as the nation's economic growth is projected to rank among the world's top six.

Citing projections from a global economic institution, he stated that Indonesia could become the sixth- or even fifth-largest economy in the world by 2045-or within the next two decades.

"That is what I believe in and what my government is determined to achieve," he emphasized during his remarks at the opening of Indo Defence, Indo Marine, and Indo Aerospace in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He noted that if Indonesia can sustain a GDP of US$1.5 trillion, the country could become one of the world's largest economies by 2045.
