Jakarta, Feb. 19 -- Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN), Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, envisions Indonesia creating its own artificial intelligence (AI) system akin to DeepSeek and ChatGPT.

"I think this is important. We should study DeepSeek, why not? It is not always expensive," Pandjaitan remarked at The Economic Insights 2025 event here on Wednesday.

The DEN chairman is confident that Indonesia possesses the skilled digital workforce necessary to develop similar technology systems.

Indonesian digital experts have developed public service applications such as PeduliLindungi, Simbara, and e-katalog.
