Makassar, Aug. 22 -- The Indonesian government is strengthening institutional synergy to combat and prevent drug trafficking, particularly in the eastern regions.

Husain Abdullah, special staff to the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, delivered the statement during a coordination meeting on drug eradication in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Thursday.

The meeting aimed to support the implementation of the Drug Prevention, Eradication, Abuse, and Illicit Trafficking (P4GN) program in eastern Indonesia.

"We must prove that the state is present, that the government is serious, and that the people have the right to a drug-free environment," Abdullah said.
