Jakarta, Jan. 10 -- Indonesia has temporarily blocked Elon Musk's Grok AI over concerns it facilitates non-consensual deepfake pornography, marking a significant escalation in the country's efforts to regulate artificial intelligence and digital safety.
The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs announced the move on Saturday, citing the urgent need to protect women, children, and the general public from the psychological and social harms of AI-generated explicit content.
"The government views non-consensual sexual deepfakes as a serious violation of human rights, dignity, and citizens' security in the digital space," said Minister Meutya Hafid in an official statement.
