Jakarta, Oct. 21 -- Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan expressed optimism that Indonesia will no longer need to import salt by the end of 2027.

"Hopefully, by the end of 2027, we will have all types of salt. No more imports," Hasan said here on Tuesday.

Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono also voiced confidence that Indonesia would achieve salt self-sufficiency by late 2027. He explained that the government is gradually reducing salt imports starting from 2025 through 2026.
