Jakarta, Jan. 3 -- Indonesia's Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman has emphasized that accelerating the rehabilitation of agricultural irrigation systems is key to increasing rice production, ensuring water availability, and achieving sustainable national rice self-sufficiency.

"The determining factors for success lie in improving seeds and fertilizers, as well as water availability," Sulaiman said in a statement on Saturday.

He said efforts to speed up the rehabilitation of irrigation networks continue to be strengthened, as they form a crucial foundation for achieving food self-sufficiency, particularly in rice production.
