Jakarta, Feb. 12 -- Indonesia and Uzbekistan have emphasized the importance of state visits by their leaders, according to a joint statement issued by Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono and his Uzbek counterpart, Bakhtiyor Saidov, on Wednesday.

"The two ministers highlighted the significance of high-level visits between the leaders of both countries," the statement noted, following the Second Meeting of the Indonesia-Uzbekistan Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) on February 10-11.

In the statement, Sugiono and Saidov called for strengthening bilateral relations through mechanisms such as the joint commission, the bilateral consultative committee, and regular meetings between senior officials of both nations.
