Belem, Brazil, Nov. 19 -- Indonesian Environment Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with the Minister of Climate Change of New Zealand, Simon Watts, to strengthen carbon governance and develop the carbon markets of both countries.

"New Zealand is our neighbor, and we signed this LoI with New Zealand so that we can strengthen carbon governance and the carbon markets," Nurofiq said at the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belem, Brazil, on Tuesday local time.

The minister affirmed that Indonesia is actively implementing a strong carbon governance framework and developing the domestic carbon market to encourage emission reduction through efficient economic mechanisms.
