Jakarta, Dec. 16 -- Indonesia and Iraq discussed the potential for strengthening strategic cooperation in the oil and gas sector, which will involve PT Pertamina International EP (PIEP).

The discussion took place during a meeting between the Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Yuliot Tanjung, and the Deputy Minister of Upstream Affairs, Ministry of Oil of Iraq, Basim Mohammed Kudhair, in Jakarta on Tuesday.

"The Indonesian government is committed to promoting mutually beneficial and sustainable oil and gas cooperation, not only to strengthen national energy security but also to provide added value for both countries through capacity building and knowledge transfer," Tanjung said in Jakarta on Tuesday.
