Jakarta, Aug. 29 -- The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) is aiming to increase trade volume with India to US$50 billion.

Kadin Chairman Anindya Bakrie met with Indian Ambassador Sandeep Chakravorty in Jakarta on Thursday to accelerate this target.

"The goal is to reach US$50 billion in the near future," Bakrie said in a press statement received here on Friday.

Currently, trade between the two countries totals around US$30 billion, with Indonesia's exports valued at US$23 billion and imports at US$7 billion.

Ambassador Chakravorty noted that the main challenge lies in turning the strong diplomatic relationship into tangible economic activities that create jobs and improve welfare.
