Jakarta, Nov. 16 -- The Indonesian Ministry of Forestry and the Fijian Ministry of Fisheries and Forestry have begun exploring collaboration under the United Nations climate mitigation framework REDD+ and the voluntary carbon market.
The two parties held a meeting with Conservation International on the sidelines of the 30th UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belem, Brazil, on Friday (November 14), according to a statement cited on Sunday.
During the meeting, Fiji praised Indonesia for its success in managing the forestry sector responsibly, including through green initiatives taken under REDD+, which aims to encourage developing nations to reduce emissions from deforestation and forest degradation.
