Kota Gorontalo, Aug. 17 -- Hundreds of people with disabilities and elderly citizens joined in the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) Independence Day in Gorontalo City, North Sulawesi, on Sunday.
The event, filled with traditional games, featured disabled and elderly participants not only taking part in the activities but also serving as ceremony officials.
"Today, people with disabilities and the elderly took part as participants in the flag-raising ceremony and competed in traditional August 17th games such as the sack race and ping-pong ball race," said Raden Sahi, Chair of Yayasan Putra Mandiri Gorontalo, the foundation that supports these communities.
