Jakarta, Dec. 11 -- Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal has urged the Public Works Ministry to prioritize restoring road connectivity in disaster-affected areas across Sumatra.

Several bridges linking regions in Sumatra were severed by flash floods, including the Meureudu Bridge in Pidie Jaya District, Aceh. He personally inspected the bridge repair work.

"This is not only about infrastructure but also the livelihoods of many people, the movement of aid logistics, and the swift recovery of the regional economy," he said in a written statement received in Jakarta on Thursday.
