Jakarta, July 3 -- The Ministry of Environment will step up supervision of traditional market areas to ensure they manage waste properly.
"We must tighten waste management from upstream, including traditional market areas," Environment Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq said while inspecting the Teluk Gong Market in North Jakarta on Wednesday, according to a statement received here on Thursday.
He conveyed his ministry's commitment to conduct a further evaluation and systematic verification of the waste management system at the market.
This is aimed at creating an optimal traditional market waste management model that can be replicated in other locations.
