Palu, Sept. 25 -- Indonesia's Education Ministry is working with Central Sulawesi's provincial government to promote the use of the Indonesian language while preserving regional languages, officials said Thursday.

Hafidz Muksin, head of the Language Development and Fostering Agency under the Primary and Secondary Education Ministry, praised Central Sulawesi's efforts to protect Indonesian as a unifying national language.

"As a great nation, language represents our identity. The Indonesian language has played a vital role in uniting our country," Muksin said in Palu.
