Padang, W Sumatra, Oct. 15 -- The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries is seeking to establish 1,000 Red and White Fishing Villages across Indonesia in 2026 to support President Prabowo Subianto's food security program.

This was confirmed by the ministry's expert staff member, Trian Yunanda, while monitoring the early-stage development of a Red and White Fishing Village in Padang Pariaman District, West Sumatra, on Wednesday.

According to him, President Prabowo wanted more fishing village development projects to be carried out to support food self-sufficiency, job creation, and village development, among other things.
