Kupang, Sept. 8 -- East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) provincial government is preparing an alternative route for the 2025 Tour de Entete as Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Flores continues to erupt, Governor Melki Laka Lena said on Monday.

"We're still discussing the alternative route," Lena told ANTARA in a text message.

He was responding to questions on the provincial government's readiness to ensure the success of the international cycling event, scheduled to begin Wednesday, September 10.

Precautionary measures are also being taken in several Flores Island districts, including Sikka, Ende and Ngada, which face landslide risks, he said.

Lena stressed the event would cover all 10 planned stages despite potential natural disasters.
