Karawang, June 28 -- The Indonesian government cemented its commitment to boosting the resilience of rural regions against the impacts of climate change by launching the Village Climate Risk Index (IRID) in Karawang district, West Java, on Saturday.
"We want villages to stand resilient in the face of climate change impacts. To this end, we aim to bolster the capacity of rural regions to manage climate risks in an independent and sustainable manner," Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions Minister, Yandri Susanto, said.
Speaking at the IRID's inauguration ceremony, he emphasized the government's dedication to ensuring that villages across the country can withstand the adverse effects of climate change.
