Bogor, West Java, March 28 -- Indonesia's Immigration and Penitentiary Affairs Ministry awarded special remissions and sentence reductions to over 150 thousand inmates nationwide this weekend in celebration of Eid al-Fitr and Nyepi (Day of Silence).
The event was highlighted by the ceremonial presentation of remission certificates by Minister Agus Andrianto to representatives of inmates at the Cibinong Class IIA Prison here on Friday.
"The remission granted for Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr reflected the state's appreciation for inmates and children in conflict with the law who have shown a positive change in their behavior and commitment to improve themselves," Andrianto stated.
