Jakarta, Nov. 24 -- Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Minister, Bahlil Lahadalia, is committed to curbing illegal mining after attending a limited meeting with President Prabowo Subianto in Bogor District, West Java, on Sunday (Nov 23).

"ESDM is focused on curbing mining. Many miners are mining without permits, without the Forest Area Utilization Permit (IPPKH)," Lahadalia said at the office of the ESDM Ministry in Jakarta on Monday.

He said that some licensed miners still lack an IPPKH, making their operations illegal despite holding a mining business permit (IUP), and causing forest areas to become pitted and severely damaged.
