Jakarta, April 14 -- The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is targeting to boost the capacity of geothermal power plants by 5.2 gigawatts (GW) in 10 years.
"In the new RUPTL (Electricity Supply Business Plan), there is an addition from geothermal in around 10 years, 5.2 GW," the ministry's director general of renewable energy and energy conservation, Eniya Listiani Dewi, said at a press conference here on Monday.
She informed that Indonesia's geothermal potential is 23.74 GW, spread over 368 locations. As of late 2024, the installed capacity of geothermal power plants in the country has reached 2.68 GW, she noted.
