Surabaya, Dec. 24 -- East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa confirmed the province's readiness to achieve national sugar self-sufficiency by accelerating the downstreaming of sugarcane plantations.

In a statement received in Surabaya on Wednesday, Khofifah said that all district heads across East Java have already mapped potential land areas for expansion, emphasizing that cross-regional synergy is key to land expansion and accelerated plantation investment.

It was agreed that East Java will plant sugarcane on 70,000 hectares of the 100,000-hectare total national target.
