Jakarta, July 18 -- The Ministry of Transportation is developing an electronic enforcement system to prevent illegal levies in freight transportation and address the issue of over-dimension and overloaded vehicles.

Director General of Land Transportation at the Ministry, Aan Suhanan, stated that the ministry is currently modernizing its vehicle weighing equipment as part of efforts to implement an automated enforcement system.

In a statement made in Jakarta on Friday, Suhanan noted that electronic enforcement would reduce direct interaction between drivers and officers at weighing stations (UPPKB), thereby minimizing opportunities for illegal levies.
