Jakarta, May 16 -- Indonesian Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid, stated that the government has learned from Australia regarding the implementation of social media restrictions and rules for children.
Australia recently enacted the Online Safety Amendment (Social Media Minimum Age) Act 2024, which includes restrictions on children's use of social media.
In a statement on Friday, Hafid noted that the Australian amendment is similar to Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 concerning Governance of the Implementation of Electronic Systems in Child Protection, or PP Tunas in Indonesia.
