Jakarta, Aug. 2 -- The Ministry of Home Affairs distributed 10 million Red and White flags in Denpasar, Bali, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Indonesian Independence Day on Friday.

An official press release received by Antara in Jakarta on Saturday stated that the event was also held to commemorate the 67th anniversary of Bali Province.

Director General of Politics and General Government at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Bahtiar, stated that the event was not merely a ceremony but had a deeper meaning, aiming to rekindle the spirit of independence.

"This independence was not freely given; it is rooted in history from significant historical places," he stated.
