Jakarta, Sept. 8 -- Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni has set a target to distribute 17 million free tree seedlings to the public by the end of 2025.

"We are targeting the distribution of 17 million tree seedlings to the public in 2025, all free of charge," Antoni remarked in a ministry's statement received here on Monday.

He explained that the Forestry Ministry currently operates 54 permanent nurseries with a production capacity of 1 million seedlings each, as well as seven large-scale nurseries producing over 5 million seedlings annually.

These are managed by the Watershed Management Agency (BPDAS) and the Forest Plant Seed Agency (BPTH).
