Natuna, Jan. 10 -- The central government has begun construction of the Red and White Fishermen's Hamlet in Natuna District, Riau Islands Province, as part of efforts to improve the welfare of fishing communities in the border region.

Natuna Deputy Head Jarmin said in Natuna on Saturday that only one location has been approved for the development of facilities and infrastructure for the project, namely North Cemaga Village in South Bunguran sub-district.

"Construction activities have started in the Sungai Bulan area, and land preparation is currently under way," he said.
