Jakarta, Aug. 31 -- The Golkar Party has suspended Deputy Speaker Adies Kadir from his position as a member of the House of Representatives (DPR).

According to a video statement from Secretary General Muhammad Sarmuji, on Sunday, the decision was made in response to "societal dynamics."

The party said the move reinforces discipline and ethics among its members and is grounded in the "aspirations of the people," to whom Sarmuji also offered condolences for the deaths of citizens during the recent unrest.
