Indonesia, July 3 -- The Rejang Lebong Kuda Kepang Cultural Arts Association (PKKKRL) will host the Gerebeg Suro festival in Bengkulu on July 7 to mark the Islamic New Year, featuring a large-scale performance of kuda kepang .
Kuda kepang is a traditional Javanese dance in which performers ride flat, woven bamboo horses, often as part of ritual or cultural celebrations.
PKKKRL chairman Hidayatullah said on Wednesday that Gerebeg Suro is more than just a celebration of the Islamic New Year.
"It is a time to reflect on Islamic and cultural values, while also strengthening social bonds through traditional Islamic performances," he said.
