Jakarta, May 25 -- Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono stated that ASEAN's credibility hinges on its ability to maintain regional peace amidst geopolitical tensions and global economic fragmentation.

He made this statement at the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting (AMM), which was held before the 46th ASEAN Summit at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center on Sunday, May 25, 2025.

During the meeting, Sugiono highlighted the importance of renewing ASEAN's commitment to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (TAC), which serves as the "foundational framework for peace architecture in the region."

Sugiono urged ASEAN to take substantive, not just procedural, steps ahead of the TAC's 50th anniversary next year.
