Jakarta, Oct. 21 -- President Prabowo Subianto announced that the government's Red and White Fishermen Village Development (KNMP) Program has boosted the income of coastal communities by up to 100 percent, based on pilot results in Merauke District, South Papua.

"Based on the pilot project in Merauke, fishermen's incomes have increased by 100 percent as a result of this village program. We will now begin implementing it nationwide," Prabowo said during his speech at the Plenary Cabinet Session at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday (October 20).

According to the president, the government has started building 100 fishermen villages and aims to reach 1,100 units by the end of 2026.
