Jakarta, July 2 -- Tens of patients were safely evacuated from Kampung Melayu Hermina Hospital in Jatinegara Sub-district, East Jakarta, on Wednesday morning after a fire broke out at around 5 a.m. local time.

"Based on information from our personnel who went inside, the fire originated in a pharmaceutical room," Sukur Sarwono, an officer from the Fire Brigade and Rescue Agency (Gulkarmat) of East Jakarta, stated at the hospital.

He noted that the fire triggered the evacuation of patients, including those in wheelchairs and bedridden individuals. Some were taken to the emergency department for further check-ups and treatment.
