Jembrana, Bali, July 9 -- The bodies of two men, believed to be passengers of the Tunu Pratama Jaya ferry, which sank in the Bali Strait last week, were retrieved by local fishermen in Jembrana district, Bali Island, on Wednesday morning.

With this, the total death toll in the ferry mishap has reached 12, with the number of survivors recorded at 30. The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) on Wednesday extended the search for 23 passengers who remain missing, citing humanitarian grounds.

According to head of the Basarnas Bali-Office, I Nyoman Sidakarya, the two bodies were found by fishermen from the Pabuahan hamlet of Banyubiru village, Negara sub-district, Jembrana district.
