Jakarta, March 12 -- The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) emphasized the key role of families and the community in building a child protection system to prevent violence in educational units.

"Activating the role of families, peer groups, and social media in building a child protection system is needed for the best interests of children," KPAI member Aris Adi Leksono stated when contacted here on Tuesday.

Leksono highlighted the increasing number of cases of violence in educational units in 2024, with one of the victims dying due to violence.

Apart from the role of the family and environment, the KPAI emphasized the need for education and training for teachers regarding child protection competencies and skills.
