Jakarta, Sept. 17 -- Papua governor-elect Matius Fakhiri on Wednesday urged all Papuans to move past political divisions and reunite, following the Constitutional Court's rejection of a legal challenge against the 2024 gubernatorial re-vote results.

The Court dismissed the case filed by candidate pair Benhur Tomi Mano and Constant Karma, who contested the results of the August 6 re-vote.

In its ruling, the Court said the petitioners' claims were unproven and lacked legal merit.

"It is time to put aside our differences, restore brotherhood, and build Papua together," Fakhiri said in a statement.

"We call on all sides, supporters and opponents, to maintain peace and work toward a peaceful, prosperous, and unified Papua," he added.
