Jakarta, Jan. 9 -- The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) announced the former Religious Affairs Minister, Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, as a suspect in an alleged corruption case related to the Hajj quota and the organization of the 2023-2024 Hajj pilgrimage at the ministry.

"That is correct," KPK Deputy Chair Fitroh Rohcahyanto confirmed on Friday.

However, he did not provide further details on the suspect list, including whether Qoumas was the only one implicated or if other parties were under investigation.

On a separate occasion, KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo also confirmed that the anti-graft agency had named a suspect in the Hajj quota case.
