Jakarta, Nov. 21 -- Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir urged the Indonesian Basketball Association (Perbasi) to prepare a roadmap for national basketball development as a key requirement for placing the sport among priorities for the 2028 Olympics.

Speaking at the inauguration of Perbasi's regional boards in Jakarta on Friday, he noted that Indonesian basketball has shown consistent progress since the men's national team secured its first SEA Games silver medal in Malaysia in 2001.

He praised the Perbasi for leading Indonesia to a gold medal in men's basketball at the 2021 SEA Games in Hanoi, Vietnam, and another gold through the women's team at the 2023 SEA Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
