Jakarta, Jan. 14 -- Environment Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq stated that his ministry is currently monitoring 100 companies operating in Sumatra's flood-hit areas, with 20 having already been issued administrative sanctions based on environmental audits.
"We evaluated 300 companies across the three provinces and are now monitoring 100," he said in a meeting with the Indonesian Association of District Legislative Councils (ADKASI) in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He confirmed that environmental audits would be prioritized for companies operating within North Sumatra's landscapes that have been affected by recent flooding.
