Jakarta, Jan. 30 -- The Emirates-Indonesia Cardiology Hospital in Surakarta, Central Java, has been designated as a center of excellence for heart disease treatment, supported by internationally standardized medical technology, Indonesia's Health Ministry said.

Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said in a statement received in Jakarta on Friday that he has instructed the hospital to optimize the use of advanced medical equipment already available to support complex medical procedures.

"Complex but traditional? No. I want it to be complex but advanced, because the equipment is already very good," he said on Thursday during a visit to the hospital, which was built through a grant from the United Arab Emirates government.
