Jakarta, April 18 -- Landslides across Tana Toraja District, South Sulawesi Province, have prompted the district government to declare a 14-day emergency response period, according to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB).

In an official statement quoted here on Friday, Head of BNPB's Center of Disaster Data, Information, and Communication, Abdul Muhari, stated that the emergency status is intended to enable the central and regional governments to distribute aid and accelerate recovery efforts.
