Jakarta, March 21 -- Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi has predicted that the annual Eid al-Fitr holiday travel rush, during which many Indonesians return to their hometowns, will begin on Friday night.
"Tonight, we anticipate an increase in travelers for the homecoming tradition, with a surge expected to start today," he said at a press conference in Jakarta on Friday.
He explained that the increase is driven by the work-from-anywhere (WFA) policy, which allows employees to work remotely. The policy, implemented by several government and private institutions, will take effect on March 24.
