Jakarta, July 15 -- The Ministry of Finance has granted marketplaces two months' time to make arrangements for collecting income tax (PPh), prescribed in Article 22 of the Income Tax Law, from online merchants.
During a media briefing in Jakarta on Tuesday, Director of Taxation I at the ministry Hestu Yoga Saksama said that the ministry has coordinated with several marketplace providers to disseminate information about its plan to appoint electronic system trading providers (PPMSE) as tax collectors.
He informed that marketplace players asked for time to prepare their systems before implementing the policy.
"Once they are ready for implementation, we will likely appoint them as PMSE collectors in the next month or two," Saksama said.
